  4. Focusing the Mires
  5.  
  6. Usually the mires are not in sharp focus 
  7. when you first locate them.  They are 
  8. focused by moving the body of the 
  9. instrument forward or backward using 
  10. the highest knob directly in front of the 
  11. examiner.  The center ring will appear 
  12. double when it is out-of-focus.
  13.  
  14. If the end of the 
  15. focusing range is 
  16. reached and the 
  17. mires are still not in
  18. focus, the position 
  19. of the patient's 
  20. head must be 
  21. changed (see next 
  22. screen).
